The Symbiotic Relationship Between Reading and Music: A Natural Pedagogical Collaboration

Reading and music instruction can form a symbiotic relationship to positively impact lower-elementary literacy increase student engagement. In this action research study, cross-curricular between reading at the 2nd grade elementary level was taught by both teacher. This study employed reading, rhythm, rhyme, instrumentation, writing, physical movement, song benefit students’ phonemic awareness while reading. Developmental Assessments (DRAs) were used measure growth from start of its conclusion. These DRAs as pre- posttests bookended around using in regular classrooms. type reinforced learning classroom settings. Results revealed that co-planning have positive on fluency, comprehension, engagement, but are not most accurate tools awareness.
